Introducing Lightspeed: AI-Powered Tools for Charitable Lottery Operators

Today we're launching Lightspeed — a suite of AI tools built specifically for charitable lottery and nonprofit operators, designed to make customer service, marketing, and operations dramatically faster and more consistent.

Charitable lotteries power some of the most important causes in communities across Canada — funding hospitals, supporting research, and strengthening the organizations that people depend on. But the teams behind these lotteries are often small, stretched thin, and expected to deliver enterprise-level customer experiences with limited resources.

Lightspeed was built to change that. Created by Torin Gunnell, Director of Lotteries at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation, Lightspeed was born out of the real operational challenges of running the Thunder Bay 50/50 — a lottery that has generated over $180M in revenue since 2021. What started as an internal tool to solve a specific problem has become a platform that any charitable lottery operator can use.

What Lightspeed includes at launch

Built different

Lightspeed isn't a generic AI chatbot with lottery prompts bolted on. It was trained on tens of thousands of real-world customer interactions, regulatory scenarios, and operational workflows specific to charitable lotteries. The AI understands the difference between a 50/50, a Catch the Ace, and a prize raffle. It knows how draw schedules work, what AGLC compliance requires, and how to handle a winner notification.

Every response is grounded in your organization's knowledge base — not the internet, not hallucinated facts, and not someone else's policies. Lightspeed never deviates from what you've taught it.

The impact so far

In internal use at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation, Lightspeed made customer service 7.6x more efficient, saving the team an estimated 90% of the time previously spent on customer inquiries. Campaign content that took hours to draft was produced in minutes. Data analysis that required spreadsheet expertise became available to everyone on the team instantly.

What's next

This is just the beginning. We're building Lightspeed in the open, shipping improvements every week based on operator feedback. In the coming weeks, expect new authentication options, deeper customization, multilingual support, and more tools purpose-built for the unique challenges of charitable lottery operations.
